NWSDS’ offices are sponsor sites for the Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA) program. The SHIBA program is a statewide network of trained counselors who educate, assist, and serve as advocates for people with Medicare. SHIBA assistance is free, confidential, uniform, and objective. SHIBA counselors can help people select a Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage plan, compare Medicare Advantage plans, compare Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, and apply for Medicare Savings Programs, including Extra Help with Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage. SHIBA counselors are also able to review Medicare bills, file appeals, and report complaints.
