What is OPI ?
OPI is a program providing a variety of services to Oregonians age 60 and older who do not receive most Medicaid services. These services are intended to support their independence and allow them to remain in their home as long as they wish.
Who is eligible for OPI
To qualify for OPI a person must be age 60 or older and need some type of in-home assistance based on an assessment done by a NWSDS Case Manager. Persons younger than age 60 who have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia may be eligible for OPI services.
How much do OPI services cost?
All individuals receiving OPI services pay an annual fee of $5.00.
Additionally, a monthly sliding scale fee is charged for services based on the amount of your household income, after deductions for medical expenses.
Income levels are subject to change as the federal poverty levels are adjusted annually.
What types of services may be available through OPI?
In-home services provided to maintain, strengthen, or restore an individual’s functioning in their own home.
Assistance such as: preparing meals, shopping for personal items, managing money, using the telephone or doing light housework.
Assistance such as heavy housework, yard work , etc.
Home Delivered Meals
A meal provided to a qualified individual in his/her place of residence
A service to individualize social and health care options. Its goal is to provide access to an array of service options to assure appropriate levels of service and to coordination in the service delivery system.
Information and Assistance
A service that provides individuals with information and links individuals to the services and opportunities that are available within the communities.
Involvement with individuals initiated by an agency or organization for the purpose of identifying potential client(s) or their caregivers and encouraging their use of existing services and benefits.
Services which offer temporary, substitute supports or living arrangements for care recipients in order to provide a brief period of relief or for caregivers.
Providing assistance to clients with limited English speaking ability to access needed services.
Assistance with financial tasks for seniors who need help with their personal finances. (i.e. banking transactions, paying bills, taxes, etc.).
