EMPLOYED PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (EPD) The Oregon Employment Department estimates that 174,000 Oregonians are prevented from working due to a disability, and of those, 125,000 want to work. Even if the employer provides medical coverage, the disability may be considered a pre-existing condition and the treatment for it excluded from coverage. Medicaid coverage is important for a person with a disability, because if they lose it, they will become responsible for paying their medical bills. This can be quite expensive. The purpose of the Employed Persons with Disabilities (EPD) program is to provide or continue medical coverage to disabled individuals who are working or want to work. If your gross monthly income is $3,500 or less, you meet the income criteria. It is possible to receive help from the program if your income is more than $3,500 per month. There is a resource limit of $12,000. For more information on requirements for eligibility for the EPD program and to apply, contact your local NorthWest Senior & Disability Services office.
